“Since the 1950s, the concrete bridge in Ain el Helweh was becoming a common place for me to take pictures as it was becoming an extension of the promenade area along the train track. The bridge was the only way to avoid walking through muddy fi elds. Sometimes people used to borrow my bicycle and ask to be photographed with it, or pose next to their cars or motorcycles.”
